Is it true they can have major vet bills because of health problems?
When we fork out the 900$- 1000$ to get him she wants to name him Mr.Buggles...makes me laugh everytime

I have been very luck in that my female is almost 12 and my male almost 9 and no major problems. My female has the breed optimal VERY short nose and has a hard time breathing when it's hot. My male has the less desirable "apple" nose, but he can breath a lot better.

Now for my lecture
PLEASE don't buy a pug from a pet store or a back yard breeder. Go to some dog shows and talk to the breeders and get to know them. The good ones are VERY strict in keeping the breed to it's standard and will sell "pet quality" dogs with spay/neuter contracts. These are dogs which do not conform to breed standard for whatever reason (my male would be pet quality) so they obviously don't bring in the big bucks but the breeders also don't want anyone else to breed them because they're not up to the standard.
HOWEVER, getting a rescue pug is really the best thing, IMHO If you need to find one in your area, LMK where you are and I'll see if I can find one.
Pugs are my all tlme favorite breed but they do have problems and quirks. If you don't like shedding, sneezing and snoring, don't get one.
