Most people in the hip hop scene believe him to be one of the only TRUE West Coast Rappers on the scene right now. He really did grow up in gangs... selling drugs, etc.. and he grew up in the hood in LA.

The reason he is so popular is because they relate to him as the next Tupac. A real west coast rapper, not some wannabe. Personally I like Guerilla Nasty, who came around the same time but is sort of thought of as a wannabe.

The Game is the 'real deal' so to speak as they think.
