I hate welfare. Paying farmers NOT to grow crops. WTF is that? They get money NOT to work. Man I should get into farming. EASY MONEY!

you cant solve a problem in a very liberal state such as welfare. large urban areas such as LA and SF, where most of these familys reside, decide what gets reformed. you think these people are going to vote for smaller checks?

and i would imagine that the retirement benefits are a very large portion of that figure. medicare is also for the old folks. you wanna put granny on the street too?

so if they arent receiving child support they're just going to die? doubt it
the 2 year max is for funds directly for the parent. the child can recieve money until they turn 18

Do you realize that with that argumentation, you are actually saying that it's my responsibility to get her to continue to work for a living?

Feelings are not an excuse for not providing for yourself. There's a simple concept of causality: in order for there to be money, someone needs to work for it. Now, that's either she herself, or taxpayers for her.
Why should the taxpayers who continue to work in jobs they may hate even more than she hates hers be expected to work for her?

What are you talking about? The guy interpreted the stats in the wrong way, I corrected him, you corrected me correcting him, I corrected you correcting me correcting him, and now all of a sudden I want to put granny in the street? Since when does merely wanting to use stats correctly imply a hatred towards old people?

the most difficult part of getting welfare in california is what to do while you're waiting in line
i personally KNOW people who work in the welfare office and they all tell me the same thing. they have to take the application at face value and issue funds without a challenge. that would be discrimination targeting the poor. again, CALIFORNIA. break into my house and cut your hand on the window YOU broke and you'll win a lawsuit for 100,000 against me

I have compassion for those who deserve it. I have compassion for those who struggle but keep on trying. I have compassion for those who are down on their luck because of causes out of their own power.

Welfare isn't supposed to be a lifestyle, but for many it is. That is what I have a problem with - the tax money of hardworking people being wasted on moochers.

Also, welfare isn't a lifestyle for anyone.....not for any longer than 2 years anyways. That's the limit.

So you noticed that post, but not my post about me living in the Netherlands? In case you don't know, that's a country in Europe (or, as some of you Americans know it, Yurp). Social security is big here, really big.

You claim that I make blanket statements about "all" people on welfare, yet quote the very post in which I use the word "most" - italicized for emphasis. There is a distinct difference between those two words.

Now, I know many, many more people on welfare than you seem to think - unfortunately. Anyone living in my country does.
Over 10% of single people without children are receiving welfare in this country. And that's not counting the 1 million people who are getting disability benefits... in a country of 16 milllion, where the working force consists of just 8 million people.

If you lived here, you'd be bitching about it too.
