Today is the day that I quit drinking for good.

I'm over it. Doesn't do anything positive for me anymore and only makes me feel bad the next day. I really don't even like being buzzed anymore. Am I growing up or is it my body's way of telling me to give it a rest?

So after today, I will be on the wagon.

Yeah, I just got a membership at the local gym so I look to get my "buzz" there as well.

Yeah I recently joined a gym myself and have dramatically decreased my alcohol intake.

The only problem for me is that my roof got blown to pieces by a storm, and now the snow's set in. I have to go and live with my fiance's mother for about six months... I think it'll put me back on the bottle.

okay. then its probably you just realizing that drinking isnt good for ya, which is a part of growing up. either way, good for you!!!!!!!!

i used to drink damn near everyday...sometimes i'd pass out, sometimes i'd be puking at 5am then pass out by the toliet.....it took me earlier this year (March) that i drank too much and got alchohol poisioning one night. worst night of my life!! i felt like i was dying a slow death (probably was!) i puked/dry heaved for 2 days, i was dehydrated, took me a week to recover (couldnt hold any food down for 3 days). that was my wake up call.

I haven't quit, but I have cut waaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck down.

As in a bottle of wine will generally last me two weeks, and I used to drink 2+ a night.

Waking up and not remembering a thing and just spending the hole day being paranoid about what i might of done, I still drink but not as much as usual. Btw im in the uk so have been drinking legaly for a year and a half

I never thought I had a problem until the people around me that care about me started making comments. I figured a couple beers a night wasn't a bad thing but that led to more than a couple a night since my tolerance built up. It got to the point where I would drink 10 - 12 beers a night and not go to bed drunk. The signs were there and like you said, I'm lucky that I paid attention before it really got out of hand.

I will hit you up to chat, I haven't spoken to you in a while.

It helps to have people that you respect doing (or have been doing) the same thing. I know it's going to be tough because tonight was pretty rough. I drank about 10 bottles of water just to go through the motions and I know for a fact that I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. If I do, it will be after 3 hours of tossing and turning.

I'm glad that you mentioned the shows and people being sober. My one fear is that I do a lot of social events and I don't know how I'm going to handle it. Drinking always took the "edge" off but now I'm starting to realize that drinking is what created that "edge" in the first place. Having a clear mind and conscience thought is where I want to be and I was never able to accommplish that because it was always clouded by alcohol.

Once again, I'm glad that I have someone that I respect to lean on and talk to...it really does help. A lot! Thanks!
