Excuse me but did he say he was going to resign if Bush won? Um no. Did Bush say he would ask for Ashcroft's resignation if he was re-lected? Um no. Is Ashcroft's replacement MORE likely to go after porn than ANY AG candidate that President Kerry would have appointed? YES. How does if feel to be completely OWNED?Originally posted by WarChild
That will make it a little harder for him to destroy the entire porn industry, won't it?
Wait a second here ... That would make it impossible! I find it hard to believe that the Liberal left on GFY could be wrong again.Comment

In 4 years you can't point to a single reputable person who has been put out of business.
The entire panic of "we're done for" is complete and utter speculation. As it turns out, John Ashcroft isn't going to be around at all.
All that panic for nothing and you think I'm owned?

What matters is policy and enforcement; not the name behind the desk. Wait and see. This may just be putting on a fresh face, who can get away with more than Ashcroft who had burned too many bridges already.Originally posted by WarChild

Do you think Bush will give the job to a pro-free-speech / pro-civil-liberities kinda guy? I doubt it.Last edited by CamChicks; 11-09-2004, 02:12 PM.Comment

Some scat site was shutdown too. People shitting on each other and porn are not exactly the same thing.

"If Bush wins, Ashcroft is going to put us out of business" has come up a few times running up to election. I just wanted to smuggly point out, it's not possible.
Can somebody else be tougher on porn? Sure. Has the Bush Administration REALLY damaged the industry? No..Comment

Um I have posted the link MANY MANY MANY times PROVING Ashcroft was in fact going to do a HUGE crack down on porn but 9-11 de-railed that. Now since you are a retard I'll post it yet AGAIN.Originally posted by WarChild

2257 isn't about record keeping. Anyone that support 2257 is an idiot. SUPPODESLY it's there for the "saftey" of the models. When asked by someone that these new 2257 rules could cause a stalker to very easliy get the real name and adress of a model and put her in danger of being raped and killed a DOJ spokesman said and I quote "We don't care". Yep is all about the models "safety" isn't it.Originally posted by WarChild

2257 is ONLY about putting people in porn out of business. And this is only the beggining. Newer more stringint and equally assinine rules will eventually be proposed with ONE purpose only. That being to make you stop selling porn.Comment

ever hear of 9-11? Ashcroft was to announce his crackdown on porn on September 11th! I think if he had announced it people would say "there are more important issues" The further from 9-11 we get the more easily he could do his crackdown. It's a FACT if there was never a 9-11 Ashcroft WOULD have had his huge porn crackdown and anyone out there that thinks Ashcroft didn't have intentions of trying to get rid of porn is an IDIOT too the Nth degree.Originally posted by WarChild

I'm not advocating for John Ashcroft. He's clearly a stiff. I agree he'd love to have put everyone out of business. It's just has hasn't. Despite what we might like to think, Porn is not the center of the universe. The Justice Department has been busy, like some have pointed out. They'll continue to be busy for the next 4 years too.
It just strikes be as absurd when people run around making blanket statments like "we're all going to be put out of business" when nothing really backs this up. It's about as silly as all you guys posting about John Kerry being a shoe-in. How'd that work for all the speculative political analysts we have here?.Comment

I just wasn't foolish enough to make posts like "George Bush to win by a landslide" and go on to argue with people and call them idiots when they disagreed.
I'm not saying John A was good for this business. Clearly he wasn't. I'm just trying to get people to slow down a bit. React to the reality, don't over react to the possibility..Comment

Presidents typically do not press hard on controversial domestic issues until they win a second term. In 2009, if there is/was no assault, then go ahead and gloat about GFY being wrong. But if even 1 person goes to jail (or is bankrupted fighting in court) because of entertainment based on sexual activity between naked consenting adults, then that's an unforgiveable assault on civil liberties. The porn industry is never going to go away, but the state may persecute individual scapegoats to satisfy the religious right, and that troubles me because I don't like my government putting american citizens on trial for offending the church.Originally posted by WarChild

See I'm not so much gloating that GFY was wrong. I'm no more an expert in these matters than anyone else. I'm not a lawyer, I don't have a political background and I'm not a lobbyist. It MIGHT happen just the way people are saying. Maybe so. It is possible, I'll even admit it. I'm just trying to get people to really think through their situations instead of relying on all this speculation one way or another.Originally posted by CamChicks

Here's a good example:
New 2257 regulations are proposed. An uproar ensues. People begin posting in a panic asking if they're compliant, what they should do and how much it sucks. Before posting in a state of panic about 2257, how many of those people actually read through the proposed changes? Based on a number of posts I read, not too many..Comment
