    Managed/Unmanaged Servers

What's the main difference between managed and unmanaged dedicated hosting? Are unmanaged servers pretty easy to use for relatively simle stuff?

Unmanaged means the host does not setup software / maintain the applications that are running / trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.

Typically you are provided with an Operating System and a login. You would need to install Apache/PHP/MySQL and then ensure they are running properly including optimizations.

Our managed service takes care of all that from:

    setup of the intial server
optimization of kernel and system variables for high performance ( we have single machines doing over 300Mbps )
monitor the services running such as Apache/FTP/Email/SSH/DNS
if our customers run into a script problem or such they can contact us 24/7 for help
and generally being a life line of support

    That's the difference.
