No.

Most of this stuff happens because lowlife thieves make it happen. Saying it happens because people leave valuables around makes it sound as though its the victim's fault.

Years ago we had an exact same B&E happen to us with a '92 Olds Cutlass. Parked in our driveway...in a quiet, upscale residential neighbourhood. Thieves smashed the rear driver's side window to gain access, then tore the Pioneer head unit out of the dash despite the fact I had the faceplate inside the house. They ripped the back seat out, and lifted the trunk-mounted amp and pair of 6x9s from the rear deck. They'd also managed to back some of the screws out from the front component speakers, but either got interrupted or decided they didn't want them.

Then they went next door and did the same to my neighbour's car.

Luckily, I had insurance coverage for the damage and loss of audio gear...but it was a pain in the ass dealing with repairs, new installation, etc.

There were no 'valuables' in plain sight. The car (old & rusted 4-door family sedan) didn't have 'target' written on it. Short of not having ANY audio gear installed, there was nothing much more that could've been done to prevent the theft.
