Anyone here in Paris at the moment? I'm trying to pack and I am shaking my head in amazement since weather.com says snow this week.

Take the long fur coat
then go to the Eiffel tower. Take a pic of you flashing, nude under the coat. Then black out the fish market & dairy and post the pics here, say you're nude in the title.
And have another 12 page thread that will last a year or more.Comment

Damn you, I'm on the fence about taking the coat. I swear I'm only taking a carry-on bag, and the coat is kind of a pain in the ass to fit into it and actually take clothes ;)Originally posted by MrPheerTake the long fur coat

Bring a long heavy winter coat. Even by Canadienne standards Paris is cold.Originally posted by KimmykimI'm definitely not taking a bikini, I'm just trying to figure out if I have to bring a heavy coat or not ;)
The only thing I would recomend is you bring an old winter coat... one you might want to throw away.
Because in the 18th arrondissment you can find second hand stores with really great and awsome deals. I picked up a full mink fur coat for 80 euro. In great shape too!!!
By your meat at "true Halah" butchers. The meat tends to be similar to North American health standards. (True Halah butcher shops are cheaper and don't sell pork products.)
I have observed that French butchers don't think twice about cutting up a chicken and then dropping down a side of pork on the same table and using the same knife to cut it up too. (And they don't wash or sterilize the surface in between each job)
Cross food contamination is a bit of a problem out here. And don't be surprised if you notice a chief smoking in the back while he cooks your food.
If you stay to the expensive tourist resturants, it's not so bad and you will be safe.
Sorry... I'm not taking a slam. Just expressing what I have noticed.Comment

May I suggest you venture out of 18th and check out 15th, 7th, 4th or 16th for example

The truth tends to stink a bit. Should I bring a camera and document this stuff for proof?
And to be very honest I go to the 18th because I love Chateau Rouge the bargins I can find on african fabrics. The clothing stores are pretty cheap too.
But as for the rest of Paris, I've visted it all! I have friends in the 15th, 12th, 8th, and 16th.
I also spend a fair amount of time en province...
But every nation has it's little "quirks."
And I'm sorry but if you are from North America and used to the Health Inspector Nazis ensuring a resturant meet a certain standard....
You will quickly discover that France by comparison is very "relaxed" in their health standards for commercial food preparation standards.Comment
