how they REALLY catch you is with the police chopper radio'ing your position to the ground units.
my plan: fly towards LAX. the helo's won't be able to follow you through the flight path of the jets.
THEN bail out.

Most of the time, the reason they can't get away is because the chopper keeps following them when the cop cars lose them. If you have lost the cars you can just drive into a huge shopping area and park underground and then walk into the shop. By the time the cars get there you will be well into the crowded area and no one will know where you went, if you just walk out somewhere else with lots of other people, step into a taxi or something, you will be gone before they can secure off the area. And the whole time, the chopper has no idea what is going on.Comment

They were in a Subaru Impreza turbo being chased by an unmarked police Sierra Cosworth and they totally burnt off the Sierra, and the cops didn't even get the number because they had a coat hanging from the boot over the reg plate..
But you're right, most shows seem to only show the ones where the choppers got there, probably because they're the ones with the best footage.

I know lots of people that have run from the cops and got away. I can see how it would be impossible in a busy city or on the freeways like you always see on TV, but out in the country here it's done quite a bit. The only chopper they have around here is used for medical emergencies.Comment

Earlier this year during our yearly road trip to Vegas for the show we were in convoy of four cars. Outside of the Hoover Damn I had the Mach 1 Speed Racer flat out at a stead 150mph. I had left the convoy behind when I got a call on my cell phone - It was BryanY telling me there was a cop tearing after me full blast.
Went over a little hill and a curve, found a side street, turned into it, shut down the car, and prayed.
Copper went flying past. He never saw me.

Yeah that was definatly crazy. The cop ended up pulling over someone who flew by me in a grand prix.
