Despite my previous sarcastic post I think it would be a mistake for you not to go.
I have been to 75% of the conventions in the last 5 years and have had nothing but positive expeirences. ( not including hangovers)
As a fulltime webmaster you owe to yourself to go out and network with people that you have common business interests with.
and have some fun while you're at it.
