Depends on where each Mars, Venus and Earth are in their orbits.
Venus orbits the sun at about 68 million miles.
Earth orbits the sun at about 93 million miles.
Mars orbits the sun at about 140 million miles."Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."

so as they move along their orbits the distance between them is constantly changing?Originally posted by NetRodentDepends on where each Mars, Venus and Earth are in their orbits.

i went to the store about 10pm tonite and I looked straight up and i saw an almost full moon with mars off to the right of it. you're right, it looks a lot dimmer than it was a few weeks ago...Originally posted by Bill8Venus has been pretty brilliant as the evening star here, very nice.
Mars and the Moon were real close two days ago, that was a pretty picture too. Mars is getting dimmer fast, it's moving away from us pretty quickly now.Comment
