Mother Suffocates Son After Falling Asleep On Him

Riviera Beach, FL (AHN) - A woman is being accused of suffocating her 2-month-old son while high on drugs.
Police say Melanie Hayward came back to her apartment early Tuesday morning and fell asleep on the couch where her son was, claiming she didn't remember what happened.
Paramedics were called to the apartment shortly after 5 p.m. and rushed the child to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 23-year-old Hayward has been living with her mother since dropping out of a drug-rehabilitation center last week.
Hayward is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
