The latest celebrity to win big in the poker world is actor Tobey Maguire. Playing in Phil Hellmuth?s Poker Invitational event, Maguire earned US$95,480 for winning the $2000 buy in tournament. The event was held on Wednesday 27th October at the Hollywood Park Casino, as part of their eight annual National Championship of Poker tournament.
There were 123 players entered in the event, including many other celebrities. The total prize pool was $246,000 and was Maguire?s first ever tournament win.
The play lasted for 13 hours, testing all the players both on skill and concentration. This Phil Hellmuth Invitation tournament was the eight event in a series of 12 being held during this overall Hollywood Park Casino National Championship.
