Walrus, I'm reading your posts and I'm a bit confused about what you stated of iFriends' HDTV section (which I quoted above). The HDTV section you are referring to is what iFriends call the "HD Showcase", right? (In other words, this:
http://apps.ifriends.net/hdshowcase.wsa ) If so, every chathost that appears on that showcase has HDTV
videoclips. We make HD videotapes and send them to iFriends for them to upload, so the only way chathosts can possibly appear there is if their HD tapes have been uploaded by iFriends. ALL the chathosts who appear there have HDTV. However, that showcase is SOLELY for video content, not still images. So, whether or not a chathost has high quality still images, s/he can will appear on the HDTV showcase if they have HDTV videoclips.
To date, iFriends cannot stream HD live, so chathosts cannot capture high quality still images when they are live. What we can do, however, is upload high quality still images which, if iFriends deem high enough quality, will be marked "HD" (it's just a small little icon
under the image or the chathost's archive listing when in browse page). However, if a host has HD still images, s/he still won't appear in the HD showcase unless s/he does not have HD videoclips.
So, if you're looking for high quality
still images, you don't have to limit yourself to surfing the HD showcase. When in
browse mode, just see if they have that little icon showing under the "archives" link next to their names. The HD showcase is only reliable for HD
videoclips. I hope I helped cleared up the confusion as to why some hosts on the showcase don't have high quality still images
