It aint exactly easy to lift a 400lb box out in a few seconds ... so i'd say it was an inside job too
He took only the panel... the whole thing was like 1-2 minutes.

Girl this is a common insider scam, high dollar installs are always stolen because corrupt employees tell their friends where to go. Taking a whole panel out involves some good tools to pop your panel out in one shot..
I would be sceptical of the next place you goto.. I would deffinetly not go back to the same place...
Maybe get an alarm with a very distinguishable sound besides the ones everyone else has...

100% correct, this happens all the time.. Always give those installer fucks a bum address. There friends know exactly what system you have and how to remove them, also the tools.

2 it took my 1 minute to understand that it was MY alarm beeping outside.
that sucks, get a better alarm, you can get ones with LEDs on your key ring so when yours goes off it will flash and beep in your pocket... sorry about your loss though

Can we see your boobies now?
On a more serious note, which pioneer model did you have? I have a NIB pioneer in dash 7" DVD/MP3/WMA Receiver that I might be looking to sell (or maybe have a gfy contest). I originally bought it for my BMW, but I'm starting to change my mind ... it looks out of place on the BM dash. I might just buy a clip on LCD instead.

Can you give me the name of the model... I might be interested.

It could be an inside job, but it if you have a custom unit installed any decent theif can pull it out in 10 seconds with 2 small flathead screwdrivers. Specialized tools are only needed for people who give a shit about your dash.
Maybe you were enjoying the music too loudly when driving through your neighborhood. Many thefts are crimes of opportunity - and car stereo theives do pay attention when people blast their systems.
I had the same happen on Ventura Blvd in Encino during dinner hour right in front of a restaurant. That's how brazen the bastards were.
And the most fucked part of all after smashing the glass all over my Benz, they didn't take the radio, didn't take my CD's, didn't take shit except for 3 fucking quarters that were in one of the coffec cup panels between the seats. 75 lousy cents.
That sucks..having many nice setups stolen myself..I just gave up and leave the stock stereo in the car and invest in a killer system for the house..Atleast they have to go through my rottie first if they are that stupid to break in
