Where do you live? Diesel oil here in Western Europe is cheaper, but is a lower quality fuel than gasoline. Diesel engines are also weaker and make more noise, I like to go fast so it's not for me.Comment

Diesel fuel is partly refined gasoline and oil, it makes it cheaper to produce, but when the demand increases the prices can drive higer than gas, You can get better MPG with diesel, but less hp. Torque figures with diesel engines are usually about the same or better.
