Letting a thread go on endlessly does tend to create problems with vBulletin, and right now it's a problem that wasn't needed. The board is still taking quite a hit from "BaiDu", over 1M (1,007,333) page requests in the last 36-hours, and that's been keeping me busy enough.
I don't have a problem with a monthly "domain thread", but I don't see the value of keeping it going forever in one thread.

ok. thanks for the explanation. but the thread was not being BUMPED for the sake of being BUMPED... relevant content was being added. And the reason why it was in "one" thread was because the info was cohesive and people had it bookmarked, not just via vbulletin, but hard bookmarks... there in lies the value.
The fact that it went on since August 2004 is testament to its strength and longevity. It was a business thread... and I for one am sad to see it killed off... not just because I started it, but for more important reasons.
Your board, your decision. But thanks for the explanation.
If you decide to resurrect it, let me know.
I can guarantee I wasn't the only one who helped generate 30,000 page views for your board. The thread will be missed.
anyone who enjoyed that thread and would like to see it again, email me. I'll just start up my personal blog and/or launch DomainNews.com - I'll make sure to update them several times a day. and don't worry MODS, neither one is a board... I'm not stupid enough to promote a board on GFY.
