Should GFY go to a pay to play model?

I don't know if you've noticed, but they've added quite a bit of people to their mod roster and it's still Romper Room here at times. Playboy would definitely love to see nice fat B2B revenues from GFY.

At the very least, turn off all sigs by default and charge people to fly sigs. Less racist/intentionally offensive threads for sig views posts... Less crap?

I dont agree to this! I think its fun to post on this forum when you know someone has taken your sig.....

Let's assume that GFY has 50K registered webmasters. Only (very conservative)1% signup for the "Pay to sport a sig" program: that's 500 x $50 a month recurring will yield $25,000. Also, maybe people have to pay to get unbanned? Each banning incurs an even stiffer penalty.

Where am I going with this? Increase the quality of the posts and posters and minimize garbage. You'll increase loyalty and level of business here.

adding them is not enough. They have to moderate. A payed model will never work. To many free alternatives.

Those free alternatives don't have the mass and the scale that GFY has. Maybe GFY is big enough to successfully make the transition and increase even further its ability to facilitate business.

Revenue streams would be: paid sigs, paid big ads, paid small ads, skins, paid stickies, etc.

Primarily asking for money for sig privileges is to stem the tide of crap posts/obviously troll posts/surfer crap, etc

stick with webmasters q & a section. problem solved. drama keeps people glued to gfy and will more likely result in more sig/banner clicks and a better chance of viewing program news threads. drama = money for everyone involved including gfy

if they would charge i'de leave...and i'm sure thousands of others would as well. There's plenty of other adult webmaster forums, and even more would pop up if they were to start charging. No worries for me, i'de just move on. But personally, ever since i've found gfy i've been glued.
And have you ever stopped to think about new webmasters just starting in the biz? Some (programmers like myself) have extreme talent, but little money...why would you push away people you could learn from or better yet employ?? Just because they have little to no money?? That's not logical.
