Weird ass pc problem. Hardware experts read me.

K, so one of my desktops has been randomly shutting down and going into some weird loop lately. Loop is defined as shutting down and trying to reboot, i.e. drive lights are on but the monitor doesnt turn on. Hafta unplug the fucking thing to get it to reboot properly.

K so I noticed it had done it again this morning and rebooted it. No dice, went into some FDC error. I couldnt even get into bios, when I tried it shut down again. LOL.

So I unplugged the FD from the board and was finally able to get into bios where I disabled the floppy.

    Now the bitch boots fine.

Was it just a case of a bad FDC or should I just chuck the whole fucking pc into the garbage?

Dont really do much with it, just an extra one of several I keep here for girls to do shows on.

Are you using a 5 1/4 inch floppy still?

I have no idea. I was wondering about that but I didn't have any spares.

I'll stick a new one in if it happens again and see.

If it all works now with the floppy disabled, it could just be the floppy (sounds too wierd though). I've had some VERY wierd things happen due to a dying/defective PSU.

hope you manage to get it sorted out.
