What will happen to the Euro when most sources of oil in the middle east are exhausted and the majority of the world's reserves are located in the Western Hemisphere?

    Hmmmm.

Well I doubt that will ever happen in our lifetimes, so I guess it won't matter.

Seriously though. At current production rates, I believe the Middle East will be exhausted of crude oil before much of the large reservers in North America are tapped.

Alberta, Alaska, Gulf of Mexico, South America. Nations all bound together with the US by NAFTA and CAFTA. Don't you think that would have some effect on the value of the Euro?

Are you kidding me? With China's growing oil consumption and the always hungry USA, the Middle East could well be dried up in under 50 years.

Start soon? It's well in hand from what I can see. Encourage China's industrial growth and millitary spending. The faster the Middle East is sucked dry, the faster it can be forgotten about. Saudia Arabia without oil might as well be Sudan and clearly nobody cares what happens in Sudan.

I'm no expert in International affairs myself, just commenting on what I see happening.

What I don't understand is the attitude of some American's towards Canada. We might not be a super power millitary wise, but we are your biggest trading partner and a giant reserve of natural resources (of all types!).

It's probably not going to happen, but if the USD lost it's oil standard the US economy would collapse. Any economist knows that.

the most retarded part is thinking that we will still be using our cars in 50 years.....as if we cant comeup with a better way to travel or an alternative fuel that isn't so polluting and as scarce as oil....

I think you guys are great Allies. Don't believe the hype. Canadians have a great nation and are great people. Sometimes the loud Americans get to talk for us all.

The technology already exists to power most of our automobiles without using oil. That's not the real issue.

Aircraft Carriers, Jet Airplanes and Tanks won't be running on hybrid engines though. Millitary requires oil.

Sterile plastics and rubbers are another product that you can't make out of hydrogen.

Oil production will peak sometime between 2005-2010. This is a fact. World consumption of oil continues to increase, while no new oil reserves are being found. So we'll continue to go through more oil than we produce - until we run out.

Once everyone figures this out oil prices will spike out of control until we hit the point where no one will be able to afford gasoline. What are you gonna do when gas hits $30 a gallon and now costs as much to fill your tank as your car payment is?

And the US will be firmly in Iraq and the Middle East. I'm voting for Kerry, but Bush might have done a very good thing by bringing us into Iraq.......

The largest reserves of oil are in the Caspian sea area...

.....and Russia controls access to them.

Dubya's puppets had the Taliban in Texas to disuss building a pipeline through Afghanistan.

But Bin Lauden fucked up the kissee-kissee relationship with the Taliban.

And the Ruskies bacame your *allies* to secure the north of Afghanistan and ensure that there would be no pipeline that was not under Moscow's control.

                                              Russia 1 Dubya/Cheney 0

And I can't think of any encounter where Dubya has the '1"

                                              Osama is out there......

I can remember once as a kid, Mr Kissenger was talking to my uncle in the den about this, and Kissenger said that the projected life span of the middle east oil fiields were 47 years.

I remember adding it up and the date for that was around 2020-2025 .

One way or another Bush and family will rule this world.... sometime, somehow.

oil start being traded via EUROS....hmmm i wonder
                                                  Damned dangerous scenario!

OPEC know this problem and one of the reasons oil is not traded in Euros.

But it is obviously tempting :-)

The problem is the ripple effect would mean the US shrinks to the same status as Brazil at the moment.

I doubt anyone wants to see that upheaval. It's not sane.

Tho.. if ever there was a good use of the word "Owned" - that's it!
