    how can you people survive with audio on their computer?

    After years i added a set of speakers to my computer so i can finally hear some audio: its fucking driving me crazy..

    - IM's ringing bells and generating knocking sounds that make me draw
    my gun and hide under the table every time.

    - ICQ sounds lyke a fucking typewriter.. jesus christ!

    - Talking, bleeping buzzing banners.. GFY is so fucking annoying.

    - applications clicking and chirping in the background..

    PLEASE DADDY... MAKE IT GO AWAY!!

                  Exactly, I can't stand sound effects, I have everything turned off but IM notifications when I'm set to away (so I can hear it from the other room)... The rest of the time it's music.

                              it isn't hard to go into the options for programs and turn the sounds off.

                                  Okay, maybe this is a stupid question, but I have to ask it anyhow.

                                  I hate sounds, so in addition to muteing stuff like q, I have my entire system muted.

                                  Every now and then, I wouldn't mind listening to music off my hard drive when I work.

                                  But then it makes a sound when I click the mouse.

                                  Is there any way to disable that?
