The only way to revive Star Trek is to bring in what made it a hit in the first place: Kirk and Spock.
They've gotta come up with a big movie where Kirk and Spock come back to interact with the latest Trek crews to save the Universe or something.
DS9 was like WWII on crack. Voyager became a favorite because they actually went where no one had gone before. Not the same old planets all over again.
Robert Beltran who played Chakotay told me it was due to oversaturation and I can agree. Yet to me, the people running the Star Trek franchise should step down and let someone else take the reigns. When I was a kid we would dream of living in the 24th Century, but after TNG, DS9 and Voyager, the 24th Century is a far, far more dangerous place than what we have now!
Sheeesh, all the space battles and death, death, death. Star Trek doesn't need all that. The best episodes were the ones that were funny or had a simple drama/dilemma like 'City on the Edge of Forever'.
