Fortunately I have a legit day job and my hubby does a bit of programming so they don't have to know about the porn side of things. It also helps that we live in Europe and they in the US.

Sexygoat, I can understand your predicament but it is difficult to solve. You'd have to come up with something freelance (website design or something) to bring in some cash and you can always tell them it earns more than it does. This all depends of course that you are over 18 and have access to your own bank accounts, etc without their direct interference.

I have a domain set up that looks like I do mainstream web design work. when I get an enquiry I just send back a polite email saying I'm not taking new clients at the moment

I have a similar prob with some of my friends. I meet new people, and when I'm asked what I do, I normally say "I'm Marketing Web sites" and leave it at that. Then I have to cross my fingers to see if my friends will shut up.
