Why do people bother with 2257 statements....

It's obvious that they either don't understand the law or don't care about it. Jail = Jail = Jail where I come from. It does not matter if you have a fucked up 2257 statement or no 2257 statement at all. You are still breaking the law.

Its an effort.

If you put out a 2257 statement listing where the records are kept, even if you listed the primary producer instead of the secondary producer, then any lawyer can stand in front of a jury and convince them that their client made a solid good faith effort to comply with the law. But the law is so confusing their client was confused and made a small clerical error. But still did their best to cooperate and comply.

100% Compliant here based on all the new proposed regs.

As Roger said... taking the time to do it was WELL worth the effort.

If they end up lightening up on the regs then great... we are way above reprouch.
