Last night I took a taxi ride home after being at a club/bar downtown. The bar was exactly 20 miles away from my house; I know this because I've measured it before. I also knew that the typical taxi with the company I use gets about 20 miles per gallon, when all is said and done. The price of gas at the station near my house yesterday was $2.73 per gallon. Knowing all of this, I had figured I could get a taxi ride home for under $3.00. The gas was only $2.73, I don't see why it would cost me much more.

Once home the taxi driver told me I owed him $25. I was appalled. He wanted $25 for a trip that only cost him $2.73?! Absurd! I'm never dealing with that taxi company again.
