Thanks alot. We decided to add nav bar with catagories and many other features like send to a friend to build bookmarks.

it gets alot of traffic daily about 50k a day but the bookmarks were lacking. it's still doing great sales though since its an exit off our sites but I expected more bookmarks and return surfers

so we gave it a cleaner face lift hope it helps

what else would you TGP gurus do?

i am on very fast cable, and it took 13 seconds (thats just me c-ounting while it loads) it is a bunch of thumbs so the load could be expected.

i live by the rule if your page doesnt load in 8 seconds you lose half your visitors. (dont know where i read that)

LOL I go by the 10 second rule.. Thanks for the info I will have my guys look into it for sure. shouldn't be that difficult to fix

well the 8 second rule is true, if you pyush it to 10 you are already hurting yourself.

I used to tell my designers 10 seconds or under before they had all these test out LOL

this is why alot of the old school designs convert better than the new ones they load super fast

I haven't checked your code properly, but a quick look made me wonder whether the load thingy may be because the page is a series of tables contained within a single table. If that is the case, the page likely doesn't load until all the tables are loaded. The way the background loaded before everything else popped up a few seconds later, suggested that too.

If you don't want to (or cannot) do away with tables altogether, you could get around that by making the overall container a div. Things would improve further if you used table-layout:fixed (within a style sheet) for your main tables.

None of these will actually reduce the total load time, but they will make the page begin to display quicker and create the illusion of better speed.
