If it's an Intel RAID controller it may support "Matrix"

I have a RAID5 and RAID0 setup on the same 3 drives.

I don't know if you can actually shrink a RAID array to fit a new one in. I just thought it would be a good idea to have a striped array for scratch so I redid the lot (new machine, nothing much on it anyways).
