I have no problem with Kerry per se, or the NYTimes for that matter. I have no ulterior motive for being on this thread other than the article looks to me like an opinion piece rather than an official declaration from the paper itself. That's all. I could be wrong, and if I am, big deal.

News papers try extremely hard to seperate the opinions of outside sources from their own, and it would have been noted in the article before they got into the letter, and at the end, to remind people that the statements made in this article is not and should not be accepted as the position of NYTimes, and as far as the reason why they didn't sign off on it, only NYTimes knows.
