Ya know... from the little so far, this looks like a shambles for court proceedings of this scale.

I don't mean the judges, but the apparent lack of facilities ranging from translators onwards. There is even an avoidance in showing faces of other judges, court staff or others present on the basis of them not living thru the trial.

It's understandable that Iraqi people may wish to have their say and the hearing talk place within Iraq, but sure screams out of something along the lines of the ICC.

The other factor is the incredible "guidance" given to this tribunal by the US - it's even US Marshall's doing court security - and judges who were "trained" by US legal "consultants".

Anyone know why broadcasts from the court are delayed 30 mins or so? Is this another amazing technical non-feat on the Iraqi side or are the tapes being monitored prior to broadcasting?

Overall, tho understandable to degrees, - it sure is no place near the level of an international criminal court in either quality/experience of judges or facilities.

There was somebody on the BBC saying that the translators weren't translating it correctly. They were saying there were some things where Saddam said one thing and the translator said something slightly different but that changed the meaning.
