Where do you live, the ghetto? I live in downtown Oakland and I wouldn't say there's any more threatening black people than there are threatening white people in the average downtown setting. I used to live in the Crenshaw district of LA. Never had a problem. Sure, you'd hear gunshots at night and there's quite a few fools trying to act hard...but the majority of the folk there (black, latin, asian, and white) are just doing what I was doing---trying to make that dollar and moving on.
Vermont Circle and some other 'black' areas are actually very beautiful.

I've always been one to look someone straight in the eye when I talk to them and find someone that doesn't reciprocate as uh, shady.
However, my wife found out about a year ago, that aboriginals find it offensive WHEN you look them in the eye. It's simply a cultural difference. So now, I make a point of NOT looking them in the eyes, which is difficult, because "I" feel like I'M the one who's trying to hide something.Comment

One of my best friends in the world is Black and although he's 6' 6" and 280lbs he's not threatening at all! I wouldn't want to piss him off but he is one of the nicest guys I know.
