yeah there is a guy here in portland, may be the same guy, who is paid $5 for every voter he could register. The catch is that they will only pay him for registered republicans. When he was talking the local news he told them the repubs were paying him $5 for each registration where the person is a republican but wouldn't take the democrate registers so he would just throw them in the garbage.Comment

So they're trying to steal the election, who cares? George Bush would literally have to choke a nun to death on live TV for the media to consider anything republicans do a scandal. I still don't understand how Rather is a bigger scandal than torturing Iraqi's.Comment

Dunno if the above is still more political bullshit, but odds on there is going to be some voting "problems".
The whole voting system is "part this, part that" and often without any audit trail and "non standard" from state to state.
Any programmers here ever written any financial stuff or "mission critical" applications where anyone forgot, or ignored, an audit trail?? It's insane, - unless there is another agenda :-)
Even the Carter Institue who provide electoral auditing, or overseeing, in many other countries have said elements of the US system don't even come near the basic requirements for a legitimate voting system.
Suspect there is plently fun to come!!

Here in Eugene, A kid was getting paid $5 per registered republican.. He was ripping up democrat registrations, he even admited it on camera.. Said it was not worth his time to register democrats...

What I don't understand is what they thought would happen when some of those people actually showed up to vote, and weren't registered.
Chances are, the vast majority of them probably wouldn't have taken the time to vote since they never bothered to take the time to register, but you know some of them would. Then what?
