I used that with my first son .. he was a runner ..but only in really crowded places ..

I guess he plans on stepping on it if he runs ... kid will be like a dog that runs out of leash ...

I'll admit I had a pink one for Savannah when she was a toddler. I only used it a couple times in really crowded places.

Pretty normal to me. Let the toddler wonder a small way away from you but keep them close, stop them bolting into the road when you are not looking. Save you having to hold their hand and give them a bit more independence and freedom. Me and my brothers all had them. I think they're a great idea.

As to the shorts,socks, shoes combo??? Now thats really WRONG!!!

Can't "handle" kids -- so you're at a car show and plan to CARRY your hyper, curious, adventurous 3 year old the entire time you're there? You think it's somehow better for the child to be physically restrained in your arms with no room to explore whatsoever? Or shall we strap him in the 5-point harness in a stroller while he wails because he's not allowed to walk and check things out and satisfy his curiosity on his own?

Those devices save kids from darting off into danger faster than you can say, "OH FUCK!" And it gives them ample room to explore their surroundings -- SAFELY.

Whether you put a leash on your child or not is your decision. However, don't you think if you are going to use one you should at least keep a hold of it?

It's like the people that walk their dogs around my neighborhood. They put a leash on but they don't hold onto it...they just let their dogs run around with a leash attached!
