    Cat Owners - Question

I moved into a townhouse and I have a small porch but I don't like to let my cat out because there are roads close by. Does anyone recommend anything to use on my porch so he cannot get out? My options are limited because I can not build a fence or anything like that........

So far I found this: but it looks somewhat small

I would just keep him inside unless he's used to going out on a porch then get that gay looking contraption.

Once you let him out, you'll be in for months/years of whining to go back out.

Let the cat out and get over it.

I've had my cat coco for ten years now - fat old bastard she be. We've lived all over. One apartment complex was close to a main road. Cats have nine lives because they can sense danger.

outside cats die sooner than inside cats

poster on my vets wall says something like:

average outside cat is like 7.5 years and an inside cat is like 12 years

oldest cat i think was 37 years maybe

anyways, if it was my cats i'd fabricate something. They won't let you screen in the porch?

Put one of those shock collars on your cat so if he/she goes outside of your yard it will learn real fast to never do it again.

bullshit. maybe 7.5 in the country until a random animal eats it. Near roads its 2.5 years. Dont let your kitty die.

EDIT: and inside is much older. My cat is obese and no where near dying at 13.

No shit. WTF are you worried about roads nearby, these are hunters with instincts and enhanced sense that you and I can only dream about. You are worried about a cat finding its way around, sounds like you have plenty space for them to wander about, they should be more worried about you than you about them...

Okay let's not get off topic - I don't care about my cats enhanced hunting instincts. I asked about a containment system.

And I'm telling you, forget about containing cats, they are born to be free, why not buy a porcelain object you can polish each day..

"The average life span of indoor cats is about 14 years ? though this is reduced to 4 years in cats that are allowed to roam free, exposing themselves to the hazards of outdoor life."

Do you still want it to go out or are you just looking for something to get it to stop bothering you? Eventually, the cat will stay inside and not care.
