Bloggers & Shield Law Up For Debate...

    http://www.editorandpublisher.com/ea..._id=1001263585

This is in regard to whether bloggers are protected as journalists under the shield law.

It should be simple, if they're publishing news, they're journalists. Not CORPORATE journalists, but journalists.

Some of the country's first journalists were farmers, bakers, blacksmiths, and some were former slaves.

    Look what they did.

Now it's down to some elitist group determining who's a journalist or not and the answer is right there in their faces:

Every citizen is a journalist. It's their BIRTHRIGHT.

    Sheesh.

I have to disagree. I have been blogging since 1996. I have changed formats and URLS, but blogging still the same. I am speaking of course for REAL blogs.

These new pic post blogs everyone is making... they will die when something else comes along, just as the blogs are slowly killing the TGPs.

a blogger gives his opinion of what happened.

a journalist, if he does his job properly, answers; who? what? where? when? how? why?

          thats the difference.

bloggers might be better off not being lumped in with journalists.

they may just get freedoms of their own.

So does Andy Rooney but he's considered a journalist yet had he started on the web he'd be just some old guy blogging.
