    liposuction - opinions needed

a friend of mine who in the last year or two developped some flab in his stomach area wishes to get lipo done.

he is pretty much too lazy to go to the gym and work out, and he makes this lipo seem like a miracle in which case fat cells are removed and never come back, therefore he can never get fat in that area again

say this is true, I am sure there are some other health factors as well as consequences involved

anybody here know what to expect? is it a safe procedure?

    thanx!

and no, the person is not me. if anything I wish to gain some weight for those who saw me in vegas and florida

i saw surgeon on inside edition do it for a teacher that had a lot of flabby skin the doctor was from arizona. but she was overweight and it was a lot of flabby loose skin. if its something as simple as a small area. it would be such a waste, and i am sure the doctor will tell him that, they might not even do the operation. if its a matter of excersise.

a close friend of mine got lipo and let me tell you: IT'S NOT A BRIGHT IDEA. Tell your friend that
              1. The recovery takes months and until then he's gonna walk around wearing rubber panties(no joke, kinda like cycling shorts, only tighter) to keep his tissues from falling apart. :D the rubber is so tight it's gonna annoy him day and night.
              2. as i remember she was telling me she couldn't get that area wet(not 100% sure), but she also said it was a pain to bathe/shower in that rubber crap they have you wear 24/7.
              3. the recovery HURTS
              4. The person who got lipo recovered in a couple of months, then gained the fat back...
so, tell him these and let him make his own decision.

Most overweight people have lifelong habits that need changing, so lipsuction may only temporarily re-arrange the problem, not solve it.

Some patients die in surgery and from the complications of surgery.

Surgery is serious business. The risks of anesthesia and infection should be considered.

The fat can always come back. Just because someone gets lipo doesn't mean they are healthier because they have less body fat. It does nothing for cholesterol, muscles, etc. The only true and good way to lose the flab is to excersize. A pass to the gym and half an hour to an hour 3-5x a week will cost less than the lipo. Instead of needing to recover, he'll be sore for a few days at first. Tell 'your friend' to do lots of cardio and targeted excersizes for where he wants to lose the weight.

Liposuction is permanent & no the fat cannot come back. When you remove fat cells, they are gone. Period.

Can you gain weight? Absolutely. But since the fat cells in your stomach have been sucked out, the fat will be stored in other areas. A lot of women report gaining weight in weird places afterwards like their face, back & calves after having lipo.

Recovery will be at least a few months before his stomach looks normal. Some people end up with weird lumps if they're not diligent with massage & even then, no guarantees for a smooth flat look.

As for the person who said they might not even do it if it's a small area, that's complete rubbish. Liposuction is NOT a weight loss method. It is meant for people who have tried everything else, are at a healthy body weight & have one or two areas where they can't lose the fat.

My sister weighs barely over 100 pounds, works out daily, eats carefully...still couldn't get rid of that little bit of fat on the outside of her thighs (saddlebags). She's the perfect candidate, though still a risk of coming out lumpy (which is worse than the fat, IMO).

Just mke sure your friend is dealing with professionals on that stuff. I've heard a lot of cases which ended up on court because of some unwanted results.

sorry but your friend is a pussy for even considering this... i'm assuming he's somewhat close to your age group if you hang out with him and i'm also assuming he's a normal / somewhat healthy individual

unless he's got some fucked up hormonal or thyroid problem i'd say its pretty pathetic... tell him to get his ass in a gym and spend a few hours online reading about nutrition

                                my god wtf
