this whole "war is not the answer" discussion is completely retarded. its the product of a dream that totally ignores basic human behavior, millions of years of evolution and even reality.
the idea that "war is not the answer" - requires that there be only one way to percieve and interpret the world around us and that that singular view can be universally shared by all. unless you think that you can somehow turn the planet into robots running on a common set of instructions, there will always be suspicion, paranoia, insecurity, pain, suffering, inequality, hate, fear and a host of a near infinite number of reasons that people will believe those conditions exist, who's to blame and how those problems can be solved.... if you can agree that those things will always exist, then you have to understand that someone is always going to be willing to take things as far as possible or exploit the situation.
it also assumes that sociopathic, psychopathic megalomaniacs are just going to stop being what they are, stop trying to do anything to get power, stop all thier insanity in rallying people behind insane ideas - whether it is the idea that jews run the earth or that a spaceship is coming in the tale of the hale bop comet to save a select group of people from certain death.
our most basic needs as living organisms, or most basic, innate and genetically programmed behaviors will always prevail - being to do everything to ensure our own safety and security, to do everything to ensure our genes are passed on. would you give your last bit of food to others counting on others to feed you when you have nothing? of course not. we are not programmed to behave that way. we are programmed to get agressive and take more food by force if necessary to protect ourselves and our own.
we are nothing more than useless bacteria on a little blue rock in the middle of an impossibly huge universe, devoting our time to convincing ourselves that our lives have purpose and meaning.... it doesn't. we are all just pawns carrying out natures plan of continuous growth and rejuvination through continuous death and destruction.
and paul... now that you know where the center of terrorism is.... please devote your time to finding the center of decent photography.
