What this industry needs more than anything

Is a way to gain consumer trust.

Think about it, many people have heard about creditcard fraud, have been tricked into signing up to a dozen sites at once, have signed up to sites that delivered only 5% of the content promised in the tour, have clicked on blind links, etc.

What most of the online adult industry is make an enemy out of the surfer, trick him any way possible, deliver as little content as possible for as much money as possible. And, the surfer has no way to know which sites will screw him over and which ones won't.

Now, one might say caveat emptor, buyer beware, but the truth of the matter is that this is hurting the business as a whole. Because of bad experiences, quite a few people stop buying porn online entirely, and many never ever start.

Even worse, stuff like this is one of the largest causes of chargebacks, which are forcing the creditcard companies to enforce more and more strict rules on online adult payments.

It seems unlikely that scammers will give up their practices any time soon, so even though that would be the best solution, it isn't a realistic one. That means we need better ways to deal with this.

Perhaps it would be an idea if a bunch of people started something like an adult version of TRUSTe - something to guarantee that customers get what they pay for, and aren't scammed out of their money.

    Any other ideas?

Actually, many are not coming back. Quite a few people I've talked with offline have said they'd never join an adult site again because at one point or another they got scammed.

Showing them pussy will make them come back to free sites, but they're not likely to pull out their creditcards again.

Exactly right, if this industry was delivering a good deal over all no one would be scared of free stuff.

Remeber selling porn is $1 a day. If you can't deliver porn at that price, please shut the door as you leave.

Blowout deal. 880 videos, 2,400 image sets, plus many RAW videos. $500.
PM me for a deal. Skype Paulmarkham70

Also, actually LISTENING to your customers' preferences/suggestions would help a lot.

listening helps, but action counts. if somone is stuck when they just wanna get their nut off, a friendly nudge in the right direction would make them praise the site.. possibilities of a "custom" members page also come to mind

I will gladly support anyone who decides to fight scammers.
They ruin our business and it's almost impossible to plan for the future when they keep hunting down and fucking over the customers we all need to survive.

At Klixxx we developed an eBook for surfers that helps them surf smarter, what to expect, how the biz works (billing options, logging in, troubleshooting), and how to find what they are looking for.

Are you thinking of something like an Adult Chamber of Commerce? I believe Adultchamber.com at it's conception was going that route but it was either too soon to mature or, as all of know, getting any type of regulation/organization together in this biz with industry wide cooperation is next to impossible. And no one wants to be constantly in the middle of a customer and a company dispute.

I think at times, that there are just as many "Cheaters" and "Scammers" on the customers side as there are the webmasters side. Billing companies have come a long way in regulating approval of sites by making sure that they are actually something worth paying a membership for, however follow ups are rare - a site can be approved once and never updated. But the problem is, customers do have recource and chargebacks add up quick. It pretty much does the same as a fail-safe - eventually the scamming webmasters get shut down.

Doing something positive like giving sites an "award" or "seal of approval" reviewed by an independant source may add creditibility to some sites in the eyes of surfers. But images can be inserted anywhere so you never know if it's really "approved" unless you cross reference it to a list. Perhaps an engine or link directory that only lists top quality sites you can direct surfers to may be helpful.. but when it comes to accepting advertiser/traffic dollars that goes out the window pretty quick.

                                Good ideas tho

Old traffic brokers were only selling to scam sites ... imagine the ammount of surfers that have been fucked over this (never ending recurring fees) ... That's millions and millions couple people in this industry (wich all act like they are the hottest shit right now) stole from surfers... and only couple people got busted
