Pretty funny. Saturday night several friends were over at the house, probably 9-12 of us in all. Somebody starts talking about politics. I hate when my friends start talking politics because quite frankly, they don't talk. Lots of screaming and shouting. No actual conversation. What makes it even more strange is they all agree on the same issues. So the loud talking and screaming isn't because of disagreement, it's because one person is trying to say the exact same thing another person is, only louder.
If you have ever experienced a situation like this you know that it gets very old, very fast. I kept quiet and continued eating my salad until someone mummbled to me that they were starting to get real annoyed and the topic of "discussion" should be changed. So I mentioned something. Simply said "ok guys, let's talk about something else now." That's it, nothing more.
The result: one of my friends and my roommate have been giving me the shoulder all week. After I made my comment the other night they both flipped out on me saying that the only reason I wanted them to shut up was because I disagreed with them. Funny thing is, for the most part I actually did agree with them. It's just listening to someone rant and rave about the same thing every night gets REAL old.
Just something I find funny... people let politics and the personal opinions of others get under their skin WAY too usually. Lighten up for Christ's sakes.
