Do you read? If so what?

As it's on my mind at the moment so I thought it'd be interesting to know what others read.

Terry Pratchett is doing a book signing tomorrow so I'm off to get the latest one and have him sign it. I'm hugely into fantasy stuff as I prefer to escape totally from reality when I read. Currently reading a forgotten realms series.

What do you read? And if you do read fantasy stuff what books/series do you recommend? There's a huge amount out there so there must be some by smaller authors I've not read and should.

I am reading Forgotten Realsm as well, if you want to check out some other fantasy stuff I recommend Raymond E. Feist, my favorite fantasy author, another good author is Robert Jordan with his Wheel of Time series. Dragonlance is also really good.

I'm lazy about reading these days, so if I do read, it's re-reading the Charles Bukowski books I already have and mostly only in the bathroom. *shrug*

Wheel of TIme is great at the start, I stopepd reading it since book before last cause its too long in between books and I've forgotten most of whats happening, so i'm waiting for them all to be released and then I'll reread. Feist is awesome, start out with Magician: Apprentice and then read Magician: Master. those are the two starting books, then proceed from there. I have alot of Forgotten Realms to still read, I've read about 120+ of it this year and still have a ton, then I'm going to read soem Terry Brooks.

Rawls - A Theory of Justice
Sartre - Being and Nothingness
Rand - Atlas Shrugged (I may not finish it because it's rather disappointing)

I haven't read Brooks stuff for a while - must catch up on the more recent stuff. I used to love David Eddings but he sort of lost his way I think and the characters after the first series were shallow and in many cases just mirrors of those in earlier books.

Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who..." series is always a topper on my reading list. I also like Jean M. Auel and Anne Rice's "Sleeping Beauty" trilogy.

Right now I'm reading an old Star Trek novel, (yes, I'm a Trekker), and have some Freud to peruse.

J.M. Coetzee - Youth

I just love his writing style.

Bertil Torekull - History about IKEA

It's amzing to read how Kamprad managed to get from aboslutely nothing to one of the worlds richest people and still be this down to earth man. Great book and a great story.

Michael Moore - Stupid white men

No need for an explanation

Sigmund Freud - Case studies

Interesting to read what was going through his mind in the early stages of psycho analysis. If you want to see what smoking too much Opium can do to you, read about his dream analysis

Thanks. For reasons explained (i.e. escapism) I read little non-fiction these days but they sound interesting. I was reading some financial info on Ikea in one of the broadsheets the other day and their turnover is amazing considering how new they still are. It's always motivating to read about a true success story.

Books nine and ten are really a step down in the series. Books 1-6 are easily the best and most epic fantasy fiction I have ever read.

I am a big science fiction fan, but I like the classics best; Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clark, Jules Verne, George R.R. Martin (I have said it before and I will say it again: the most underrated science fiction author of our age), Ursula K. Leguin, etc. I like fantasy, too, but I don't go out of my way to read fantasy authors the way I do certain science fiction authors.

If you like historical fiction, read anything and everything by Sharon Kay Penman. Her books really bring characters and settings to life. Falls the Shadow and When Christ and His Saints Slept are two of the best novels I have ever read.

For humor, Dave Barry is the only name you need to know. Every single one of his books is wall-to-wall laughs. I own every book he has published except for the newest one and I have read them AT LEAST 20 times each. His first novel, Big Trouble, was good and his second novel, Tricky Business, was fantastic. Another great humorist is Peter Devries; read Without a Stitch in Time.

Been reading a ton of Michael Crighton lately, on my 6th book in 3 months or so with Timeline. I've read quite a bit of Tom Clancy as well, and I'm a huge Terry Brooks fan; I've read the entire Shannara series.

I read a little everything, I'd say my favorite contemporary author is Chomsky.

My taste varies a good deal. Everything from fiction to travel guides to greek mythology. I don't get to read much lately but I'm getting on a better schedule now which should free up some time

The two books I read before this one were, The Junlge by Upton Sinclair and The Age of Reason by Thomas Paine.

"The articles"

Currently, i'm reading Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. It's a good story but he writes like an 8th grader.

And i do enjoy Terry Pratchet. I've only read a couple of his books. Truckers is my favourite.

Tom Sharpe is the man for me. Wilt and Wilt On High are two of the funniest books ever.

Stephen King is my all time fav but i am trying a Koontz book for a change " The eyes of darkness" hmmm But the best book i have ever read and i reccomend this to all the ladies is "The Red Tent" by : Anita Diamant fucking AWESOME book
