    Standard Def or High Def?

I'm looking to buy a new video camera and I was wondering what you other shooters are shooting with? Should I pick up a Sony VX2100 or maybe a Sony HD camera? Most of my work is for the internet but I never know when a client might want to produce some DVDs from this material.

Better question is to figure out if...
You are working for "Today" or "tomarrow".

From there its all to simple to decide.

Right now I'm shooting with a Sony TRV950. It's a 3 chip cam...very small but not very good in low-light situations. I don't shoot that much low-light stuff but I need a cam that can hang with me if I decide to

          IMHO
Depends really what you want to shoot, and not for what you work (Net, DVD, of course except TV)...

go with the 2100 , never never buy the first gen of something. My friend shoots real tv with a beta cam and no one asks for hd from him. No one has upgraded to hd the shoots he does, he did a few months ago the hooters bikini pay per view they a shot it for dvx100a. In fact he was in no for katrina shooting for the weather channel all in beta cam.. Also hdv is not going to the standard the talk is it will be digital videos version of hi 8.Vx2100 is a good cam great in low light. Also only half the surfers are on high speed and a large part of them are on old dog shit computers. Hd is the new porn catch phrase also if it shot shitty doesnt matter what you shoot it on.

I love the Sony FX1E - but I already hate working with the HD material. I needed to buy a new computer, scene detection doesn't work with the programs I usually work with and everything goes slower in general. So I set the Sony to convert to DV when capturing and I still have a great pic quality. Plus I have the HD stuff on tape for future use...

A tad off the subject and I am no photographer but holy fuck the difference from regular tv programming to hi-def. I got comcast hi-def on my new tv and woahhhhhhhhhh all networks should be broadcasting in hi-def. There is no comparison
