I find that real hard to believe..you would think he would be able to communicate with his hands because how could you survive? but being from a 3rd world country I guess it could be possible

They can hold you for 6 months to try and teach you to communicate ( at a mental institute , but even that is iffy ), but as the one lawyer pointed out on this show , once he realises that they can only charge him if he starts to learn , he will have no incentive to learn.

I think they should teach him to communicate no matter how long it takes. Keep him in jail until he learns.. hardly fair if he is innocent but.. what can you do ?
