Well, the milllion dollar homepage idea is such a simple and novel idea that it's inevitable that everyone would jump on that bandwagon. For the sake of the owner of the first one, he knew that he'd be copied, he had to walk a fine line, it's own success would be it's failure.

It's his major design flaw in that its so simple to make money that it wouldn't last.

When it comes to making money. A great idea an be simple in concept but it shouldn't be easy if you want to deter competition.

Look at the personals business, for a while there it was a gold rush. Everyone and their uncle started a niche dating site. Most have failed. Those who were big got bigger from the added attention and exposure.

I like the ideas here, the more complex business plans intrigue and inspire.
