I believe in being honest, but I also believe in being nice. If someone's all excited about a new logo and you don't like it, the "nice" thing to say is "I don't like it" and leave it at that.
The "mean" thing to say is "that sucks", and the "harsh" thing to say is..."that's the ugliest damn thing I ever saw". See the difference?
