On the same rationale, is alcoholism a disease?

I don?t think it is a disease. I think some people have damaged themselves to the point that they can not function without alcohol, however, but I have never heard of a child saying ?I need a drink or I?m going to wig out man?. I have heard of children that have compulsive behaviors.

Even if someone has a thyroid problem, it is their responsibility to maintain a proper diet and exercise. Just like someone who had asthma. It is up to them to make sure that they aren?t running around asking for an attack.

But on the fair side, there are few people who have no choice and are seriously in trouble with their health issues. I feel bad for this 1% and wish them the best.

If alcoholism were a disease, there would be a field day of alcoholic drugs available.

I hope everyone understand where I am coming from.
