Nothing is more fun to drive on a long road trip than Corvette Z06. Call me lame but it's my favorite non-supercar. At least test drive one, they're so comfortable to drive at high speeds.

I would hold off on the E46 M3 since the new E90 3-series should be out by the end of next year with the new M3 to follow within 1.5-2years after that, not worth it to drop all of that cash and have a dated car.
I would say though you should save up a bit more and get the new E60 M5. I think it will be more in the 90K price range with a couple of options, but it should be a very nice ride, plenty of room, good as a daily driver, and definitely will have the power to eat up the road when necessary.Comment

In the UK? You have to go for The M3. Its a no brainer.
And $80K is about £43,500 so you have slightly more to spend.
If I were to spend that amount on a new car it would DEFO be the M3. Its got class, style and its bad ass.
If its not your kinda car, then I'm sure you can pick up a Porsche for this price

You wont see the E90 M3 for a good 2 -2 1/2 years. By that time you will be about ready to trade in for something new anyways.
I am also willing to bet that you wont get a new M5 for under 100K atleast not for a good while.Comment

------
Curb Weight: 4087lbs
HP: 469
0-60 : 5.06
Skyline R-34
-----------------
Curb Weight: 3395 (692lbs lighter)
HP: 276
0-60: 5.1
It would be a drivers race, the advantage being to the guy in the Skyline. If he knows how to launch that car, he'll win.Comment

I'm not sure how much they go for over in the UK....
The MSRP is just over 80K is the states
2004 Acura/Honda NSX
The HP is a little weak for the price, but will smoke any car through a corner....

a lot of people will say viper or corvette, but those need importing right?Comment
