$400 DESIGN CONTEST @ Jokaroo!

$400 to the person who can design the front page of www.jokaroo.com the best. If we get less then 4 submissions, the payout will only be $300.

We are looking for a designer to do periodic work for Jokaroo.com as well. An urgent redesign of the front page is needed ASAP and thats what this contest is for. What we need done is the mid section of the front page (header and left side stays the same). This means anything from JOKAROO DAILY down to the bottom of the page.

Let me explain in more detail:
Our site focuses on Funny videos, so our front page needs to list 5 videos every day prominantly (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), plus the previous days 5 videos somewhere below. We would also like to have a space each day to blog cool sites, gossip and or contests we will be having around Jokaroo. We also like to link about 4 top news articles for that day. All this needs to fit into the front page nicely and flow incredibly smooth.

It is imperative that you have a Paypal account, because this is how we will pay you. Contest ends Tuesday, September 27th at 11:59PM EST.

What? It can't take more then few hours to give yourself a shot at $400. Plus, this isn't even a full page design for $400, its only a mid section of a page layout.

From what i see, you just redid exactly what we have. We were looking for a total reorganization of the midsection, which looks nothing like it does now. Notice that we feature a funny video at the top and then feature more videos lower.. its not really smooth by seperating this... pretend there is nothing there right now, and do something based on this description... completely ignore what you see on jokaroo.com now, and just make something that matches the header and left side bar.

You are better off hiring a seasoned designer rather than jerkin off ones on here.

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

In terms of the flow we were looking for, Skn_Designs, suicidemessiah, and the one I posted earlier are on the money. The rest don't really incorporate the flow that I was looking for.

Still another 24 hours left...

Right now Skn_Designs, suicidemessiah, and the one I posted from another designer are the front runners. Not sure which I like best yet.

suicidemessiah, cool remake but I like your first one is better. Skn Designs, your new one is definitely nicer. So far, its still between the 3 i mentioned earlier, except I like skn designs new one better then his old one.

We are typically looking for all the 5 videos/news links/jokaroo news all together, then underneath, the exact same look, but for yesterdays stuff. So 2 chunks, today and yesterday, both identical.

Some good things I see so far, but I think everyone is more concerned in trying to make everything look too pretty with all the image headers rather than designing something that flows naturally and is easy to read. I'd like to see something a little different, I know we have a lot of creative people here, maybe trying a simpler approach would do it. Also keep in mind that the updates do not solely include movies, they usual contain a combination of movies, pics and flash files. Afterall the design should be made to fit the content, not vice versa. Basically we just need sections on the front page for the daily updates (movies, pics, flash), news articles, and a section for news/announcements related to the site where we can post the latest ongoings surrounding Jokaroo, contests, etc. Also a link to the previous month/archives should somehow be designed in as well.

Yup, they're all generally the same. Probably because the header and side bar needs to stay intact. Or maybe they are all copying each other? lol. Who knows, at least there are a few good ones.

shiiiit... thats nice!

A few things...
change "jokaroo daily" to "Todays Media". Change Gossip to, "Jokaroo Gossip". And remove everything under that (no need for anything from Yesterdays movies downward). Instead, intergrate the exact same thing as you have for Todays update, but call it "Yesterdays Media" with yesterdays jokaoro gossip and daily breaking news. Also integrate "Last weeks" and "archive" buttons into the design somewhere too (maybe where the search box and update date is).

Other then that, thats a great design.
