Erasing the IE cache doesn't delete everything. Go and have a look in "c:\documents and settings\YOURUSERNAME\local settings\temporary internet files" or c:\windows\tempor~1 on W98
As an example, I just cleared all files in my cache (including offline content) using IE's Internet Options menu and there is still 16Mb of content sitting in there.
