What's your favorite Linux for home use?

I know there must be at least a few here using linux at least on a secondary machine here if not on a primary use computer.

I'm thinking of cutting some space out of one of my drives and installing linux on a dual boot setup. I was hoping maybe I could get some recommendations from some of you.

My most basic and important needs are that I can get a GUI like KDE running fairly easily, and have internet sharing set up so I can reboot and other computers on my network will get back on the net ASAP, whether I'm going to windows or linux.

I've been looking at Mandrivia (Mandrake), Debian, Slackware, and Knoppix. I already have a slightly old copy of Knoppix on a CD I've played with.

I can run linux...just never really done a full install from scratch for something that would be used as a home/work setup and not a web server. Any recomendations?

In my humble opinion, which is based off of using Linux distros since the middle nineties, Fedora Core 4 is the best thing going right now on the desktop.

Try them all out at LinuxISO.

Ubuntu Linux is pretty nice disto based on Debian, and it's definitely one of the best for home using.

I've done a triple operating system gizmo running:

                                                        SUSE/NT workstation/ windows 98

I chose the operating system @ boot

You just have to tweak your text-config files if you go online!

Install Slackware 10.2 and be done with it.

You'll need cd 1 and 2 if you want to install KDE.
