Poker Night with a "made man."
Living in Vegas has it's advantages.
I have had the pleasure of getting to know some very connected people in the poker world, and last night I was invited to a private game where we played $6/$12 with a full kill.
The game is ran every Tuesday by a gentleman, his name will go unmentioned who when I first met him a few weeks ago, I thought he was just another die hard poker player.
That was until I noticed him standing over a player who was talking shit to him, that player backed down.
This guy is all of 5'5" but he is not a guy you would want to mess with.
He's a former boxer, grew up in New Orleans and at the age of 8 was running numbers for his grandfather who moved there from Sicily.
By 12 he had his own craps game in New Orleans.
He was brought out to Vegas in 1965 to help open a casino.
He now owns a very famous poker room in Costa Rica where the Brenes brothers play.
To listen to this man speak about Vegas in the "glory days," is amazing to say the least.
He shared with me his tales of running boiler rooms, and a hilarious story where a well known mob boss back in Louisiana ordered a cleaners to be torched, the guys did too good a job. They ended up burning down the entire shopping center, which the boss owned.
This is a guy who knows "where the holes are." If you get my drift.
To say it was an interesting night would be an understatement. I will definitely be going back again next Tuesday.
