Canon is releasing so many new digital bodies, I can only imagine that they are cannibalizing their own prosumer and professional sales somewhat. I personally am sticking with my ten month old Digital Rebel and small selection of Canon lenses for the forseeable future. I've always hated large and heavy camera bodies, especially since I am often taking pics with one hand and balancing the camera on one finger, and usually taking pics as an adjunct to videography and switching between the two.
Not only are the larger bodies much more expensive, but they are completely unnecessary for taking still pics for most purposes whether you are doing glamour or porn pics on the set. It's all about the lens and light, right?!
I'm on the preorder list since 30 minutes after official announcement. I have a 1Ds now and the upgrade will bring all the things I was waiting for. As i'm shooting for magazines too, I'm happy about each pixel.
And the 1 series camera are built like a truck, you even can run over it with a car (what I accidently already did) :-)

I make a living with my "larger body" SLR, I wouldn't consider them completely unnecessary. I wouldn't call 16 megapixels entirely necessary for porn, but D-SLR's create a damn fantastic product that's hard for anyone without one to compete with.
those samples were awesome they didnt even look like pics they looked so real. Hmmm maybe thats the one that I will get before I go to internext. Very Nice!!! hmm maybe not i just did a search for one on google, over 6k for one. hmm time to get makign money !!!!
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.
Yep, sweet cam but it is overkill for anyone but really pro photogs. Shit, the majority of porn is shot by people who only know how to turn a camera on and off anyway.
Look how many content producters do not even understand basic lighting!
But if you are a talented person this camera is worth the stretch.
We shot the 1ds for a few...way too slow for shooting people. We moved to the 1d mark II...it's an amazing camera and really fast in RAW mode. I posted these in another thread - they were shot with the 1d mark II

I'll be getting one soon. I do landscapes so I need to be able to resolve as much background detail as possible. My 300D is good but 6MP can't really compete with slide film when you do larger prints.
As for the cost? I'm only an amateur, but if I take enough shots then it actually works out cheaper than buying/processing/scanning slide film. Once I get the 1DsII I'll probably never set foot in a processing lab again.
can't beleive you actually think the 1ds is too slow for shooting people... ive shot it (a good friend owns one, a pro photographer) in his studio, shooting people and never had a problem w/ buffers filling on me
also shot the eos 1d, frikking amazing camera... its what im hoping to pick up (used) if i can get a decent price for my 10d... as the 20d doesnt offer me much of anything as far as an upgrade to the 10d
as for the 1ds mkII... im not sure how well its going to be received, especially coming out so soon after the 1ds was released.
its at the point now where many pro's who would possibly by the 1ds mkII are just buying digital backs for their exisiting MF camera's - as the resolutions are the same or better w/ much larger files to work with
phaseone has the h22 out now, a 22mp digital back and rumors of the h30, a 30mp digital back have been floating around for some time now
we had a discussion on www.iPhotoForum.com about the 1ds mkII - seems there are some mixed feelings on it - some like the push for technical gear to be developed faster and faster, as it drives down the prices of the older gear for quick sales, and some don't see the point.
my friend who shoots the 1ds (has previously owned d30, d60, 1d, currently owns a pair of eos 1v's and a few mf cameras including pentax67) said he really has no plans to upgrade to the newer model. something that kind of shocked me because whent he d60, 1d and 1ds came out, he owned them all within the first 4 weeks of being released. he said that he's been doing 20x30 and 24x36 prints on various mediums (including stretched canvas) for some time off the 1ds and has been MORE then impressed with it.
Mike Panic: I'm tossing up whether to find a cheaper 1Ds instead of going for the MkII... it does have some new features that I would actually use, so I'm not just blinded by the 11->16MP difference.
If I had a 1Ds already then I would probably be excited about the MkII, but I wouldn't be rushing out to replace it.

Some photogs shoot fast - some don't. It might be slow for some photogs...but some photogs might think it's fast enough. Who is right? Is anyone wrong here? It's a personal preference -
i agree - everyone has differant shooting styles - im just wondering what kinda studio lighting you have if your filling the buffer on a 1ds... cuz the recycle time on your lighting has got to be insanely fast
Is there really a need for it on the internet? Most pictures don't go over 1000 pixels on the longest dimension. I would think it would be more for magazine photography or posters.
Very nice . I got a couple cams but nothing nearly this good ... but I really got no use for that .
